Château La Gorce is a Cru Bourgeois estate in the Médoc, Bordeaux, located in Blaignan-Prignac, north of Saint-Estèphe and Pauillac. Founded in the early 1820s and Cru Bourgeois since the first classification in 1932, the estate has been owned by the Martin family since 2018.
The 48-hectare estate sits on cold clay and limestone soils, planted at 5,500 vines per hectare, and has fully converted to organic farming. Since 2022, Petit Verdot and white grape varieties have been planted, reviving the historic white Médoc tradition. Consulting oenologist Thomas Duclos oversees climate-adapted winemaking.
The flagship Château La Gorce (Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon, 12 months in French oak) produces around 180,000 bottles a year, complemented by the organic La Bonne Résolution (60,000 bottles), the fully organic Prétexte cuvée (33,000 bottles), and a range of small-batch cuvées — Rose Dada, Rouge Intense and the amphora-aged L’An022 — totalling around 285,000 bottles across the whole range.
Recognition includes Gold Medals at Mâcon, Lyon and Paris, and scores of 88-93 points from James Suckling, Wine Enthusiast and Yves Beck. A range that covers both classic Cru Bourgeois Bordeaux volumes and niche, high-margin natural wine cuvées.
